Shenendehowa United Methodist Church has joined together in several missions specific to the Covid-19 pandemic. While Covid-19 has resulted in great need, it's also shown how well our church, the community and the world can come together to help others.
Bountiful Backpack Program
The Shenendehowa School District provides food for more than 260 children each week through the Bountiful Backpack program. During these times, families are relying on these meals more than every. The program is currently in need of: cereal, proteins (canned chicken, tuna), grains (rice, pasta), canned fruits and vegetables, fresh apples, oranges or pears, and hearty soups. Food donations can be brought to Shen UMC or directly to the program at Grace Chapel in Jonesville.
First to arrive, last to leave
UMCOR is the global humanitarian aid and development organization of the United Methodist Church (UMC). 100% of donations are directed to an earmarked project or relief effort.
UMCOR works through programs that address hunger, poverty, sustainable agriculture, international and domestic emergencies, refugee and immigrant concerns, global health issues, and transitional development. These programs are categorized into three major areas: Humanitarian Relief / Disaster Response, Sustainable Development and Global Health. Here is a link to a recent interview with Sara Flores, a Global United Methodist missionary serving in Ecuador. She has received UMCOR funds to meet the desperate needs of the people in her country during this global pandemic. Our donations make a difference!
